About me and my practice
Hello, my name is Claire, welcome to my page. I would like to take the opportunity to tell you a little about myself, and hopefully allow you to appreciate my human, empathic approach to our potential, therapeutic relationship.
I am a Person-centred counsellor with experience in a vast range of issues, in varied environments. I am a mother of 3 teenagers, which has been a great benefit in working with families & young people, and having insight from different perspectives.
I have been where you are, and sought counselling, this gives me a greater understanding of potentially how distressing this time can be.
I often describe therapy like a mirror you hold up to yourself, which offers you an opportunity to take an in-depth look at how you react and respond to things, and hopefully find ways to develop, grow and move forward in a more positive way.
Not many people want to find themselves in the position of seeking counselling, finding the right counsellor is an important part of the process. It can be daunting for some people, the thought of opening up to a complete stranger. Rest assured you will be offered a caring, supportive, non judgemental and safe space, to work through your difficulties. Most importantly you won't be alone.
Many people have no idea where to start when they have their first session, it is my job to make sure you are put at ease and able to take your time, hopefully any first time anxieties will quickly dissolve. I work in a way that will be completely at your pace, where you will be gently and appropriately challenged, in order to become more self aware. I have a healthy sense of humour which I feel is very important in the therapeutic relationship.
Please don't be alone in your struggles, we can arrange a 20 minute FREE chat, absolutely no obligation, this often helps to relieve some fears of your first session.
Experience
Throughout my experience as a Counsellor, I have had the privilege of working with many clients from all walks of life. I have supported people from different religions ,race, sex and gender. It's by far the most rewarding job, to witness clients work through their difficulties and go on to live a happier, healthier life.
As well as working within my own private- practice, working with a great variety of difficulties, I have also worked and continue to, for other organisations and charities, including:
Prison Services (Walton & Appleton Thorn)
Joshua Tree(Children's Cancer Charity).
Survive Charity (covering all areas of abuse)
